Tool #5 Tagging and Social Bookmarking
I added 2 bookmarks on Delicious. I included 2 video games, one for math called "Space Race" nice for brushing up on multiplication facts, and "Hangman" for spelling. Kids will have fun learning!
Tool #4 Cool Google Tools
Today I used google docs, and I wrote a document about Bilingual Education. I also added an image to my document. That was cool! I can see students creating written documents, and adding their own images to give meaning to their writing. This will motivate them to write, and read.

Tool #11 Reflections
1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.
I have found that all tools are my favorite. I will still continue to add tools. Every tool just kept getting better, and more interesting! But, one of the first activities I will use with my students will be Building Community and Comments. I must build an online community of learners, so that my students can communicate with each other, share ideas, and collaborate. Also, Digital Citizenship, they must know the rules!
Once we have that down, we can do all other tools.
2. How have you transfomed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom?
Using the 21st Century Tools will enhance my students fun way to learn! Learning will be pleasurable, and when it is, it can happen fast! The wordle, wikis, videos, blogs, vokis, social networking, etc. will be appealing to students, connecting them to the world outside of school. These tools are powerful new ways to engage my students in ways that will make learning exciting!
3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
The unexpected outcome was that I was successful at using them! If I can use it, so can my students!
Technology is good as a means of communication, and collaboration to connect with others outside of the classroom. I want my students to connect to the world in a way that they can see how people live, and learn in schools.

Tool #11 Digital Citizenship
I have to comment on: What three things would I teach my students about Digital Citizenship?
The three things I would teach them is: Digital Responsibility, Digital Health, and Wellness, and Digital Safety.
Digital Responsibility - Use appropriate behavior and have digital etiquette. To know how to use technology appropriately, and to be responsible with it.
Digital Health & Wellness - There are physical as well as psychological issues that become a problem, like Internet Addiction. Students have to learn to protect themselves, through education, and learning. In other words, they can't be on the internet 24 hours a day!
Digital Safety - (protecting oneself) - In society, there are people who steal identities or disrupt
other people. Just like we protect our homes, and properties, we must protect our computers from viruses, data backups, surge control of our equipment, hackers, etc. We, as responsible citizens must protect our information from outside forces that might cause us harm.
Once we address these elements, then we can have safe communication, access, and connection to everything else.
How would I teach this to my students?
I would teach this through rules! Just like schools keep records or files on our kids, well, records of their lives are being posted online. And their lives can now be copied, pasted, altered, and distributed to a huge invisible audience. Kids today hold the key to what kind of reputation they create for themselves. I have to lay down rules!
Guard Your Privacy - Don't give every detail about your private life or information!
Protect Your Reputation - Think about what you are going to post, whatever you do might hurt you in the future.
Nothing Is Private Online - Everyone can see what you copy, paste, and send to trillions of people, without your permission.
Assume Everyone Is Watching - If you send something to someone, friend, family, etc. they too can see everything.
Apply The Golden Rule - Don't do unto others what you wouldn't want done to you.
Watch The Time - Balance your life!
Use Your Judgement Wisely - Not everything you see is appropriate! What you see might not be all true.
Don't Hide! - Using anonymity to hide your actions doesn't turn you into a trustworthy, responsible person.
Be Smart, Be Safe! - Not everyone is, who they say they are!
Teaching these rules to my students would make them better, responsible, and wise digital citizens.

Tool #10 Exploring Mobile Technology And Apps
I'm supposed to comment on the mobile technology, and give my insights. So here goes! Well, I'm thrilled to say that I own an iPad! Yes, my own iPad and I love it! First of all, let me say that I can get all these different apps from the Apple Store. I use my fingers to surf! On my iPad, I get my E-mails, movies, TV shows, hear my favorite songs, educational games, Safari, maps, and videos. I can buy movies or rent them, etc, etc, etc. My WOW! moment came when I could download the books I wanted to read. I can get them free or buy them, and many are not that expensive. I go to the iBookstore, and I can browse tens of thousands of books, I've downloaded a few that I bought. At the touch of my fingertips I can browse through the books. My kids in class could look through the books, and read, My students were really motivated to read. They all wanted the iPad! I have to rotate the iPad! During oral reading, I read from my iPad, and the kids are really anxious to see the images on the iPad! After I read, they want my iPad to read! That is one great way to get kids to read! Can't wait to use it again in class in August! I need more iPads! LOL!!! There are lots of free educational games, and apps also. I have Word Search, and Word Magic for vocabulary. iPad has interactive storybook apps, which are also available for the iPad. So here is a photo to show that even my Granddaughter, and daughter use it. They really enjoy using it!

Tool #7 Digital Storytelling
Making this photo story was very difficult! My microphone on my laptop doesn't work!
So just enjoy the written part of the story. But, my students can use this to take their own photos, and create their own stories. They can also use this to complete a research project.

Tool #8 Video Resources
Here is another cool video that I showed my kids this year in class about the Water Cycle. They wanted me to play it twice, so I did. They really understood the water cycle after they saw this video. They even sang parts of the song!

Okay! This was really easy for me, since I have done this many, many times in my classroom! I show lots, and lots of videos to teach my students. They not only understand concepts better, it helps them to retain better. The 2 videos I selected was shown to my students this year when we studied units on the subjects. It made the class more interesting, and fun learning!
Here a video that I showed my students in class this year when we studied our weathering and erosion unit in Science. It's a cool video, and my kids not only understood the lesson better, they also enjoyed it! And, it was in Galveston!

Neily - Making An Imaginary Milkshake
Here is my little Granddaughter, since 8 months ago, she's been developing her motor skills.
The IMovie was a big challenge for me! It was a difficult task! I had to take a break, and come back to it. Trying to figure it out! But I finally did!
I like the iMovie cause my students can act out their own stories, and make their own IMovies. Not only do they see themselves on video, but they will be able to retain info, and have fun at the same time. Cool!

Tool #6 Wikis
I started my wiki, and I like the idea behind it. Since my students, and I do a lot of reading, they can use wikis to create a list of books that they have read, and share those books with others. By creating a discussion wiki students can discuss the stories they have read, and share their thoughts, ideas, and even write a sequel to those stories on their own. It's great!

This is what our students are facing in today's educational environment. What jobs will exist for them in the future? Where do we go from here today as teachers? How can we help our students move forward, and be prepared?
Tool #5 Tagging and Social Bookmarking
For tagging I used reading resources, phonics, maps and charts. Bookmarking is easy when you want to keep certain websites of interest. This would help students when they want to bookmark a website that has information they want, and when they need the information again they can come back to it without surfing the web again trying to find their page.
